Tips on Choosing Ladies' Underwear

It's hard for a man to shop for women's underwear. Know the lady you are buying for and follow simple instructions in order to get the right underwear for her.

First off, you must choose what general style of underwear you are interested in purchasing for the female. You will find many styles of panties available at a lingerie shop. It depends on who you are purchasing for; one kind may be better suited than another kind. Pregnant women prefer to go with comfortable undergarments. Basic cotton panties are something you might want to stick with. Conversely, a thong may be a sexy choice if you purchasing for your girlfriend.

A woman can feel still just like a lady in a pair of boy shorts. There are a variety of cuts when it comes to types of underwear. You need to bear in mind that the cut is generally how it will fit on a feminine body. Look at the pictures if you are too embarrassed to handle the underwear. The bikini cut is generally the most widely recognized, so if you want to stay on the safe side, you should choose that style.

The color and material are the last things you need to decide on. When it comes to panties, there are many varieties of colors and patterns. The color that you buy for her will be determined by her own choice of decor. Black is always a safe color selection. Since black gives a slimming illusion, nine out of ten women will love it. You should also consider what material you want the panties to be. Materials come in so many choices these days. Many fabrics are used to make panties, such as silk, satin, lace or cotton. Cotton will make you feel comfortable. Silk is a great choice if you are buying for looks.

It is often difficult to choose a pair of panties. This list of instructions will be able to aid you slightly, however, you can ask a sales person to give you assistance.

Semi Formal Dresses

The best thing about wearing semi formal dresses is that you can use them in just about any type of occasion. Semi formal dresses or attires can be used while attending to a meeting at work or even in the most solemn receptions of a wedding. It may be just a formal skirt along with a plain top, or a petite-looking cocktail dress. The possibilities of mixing and matching your clothes are endless with semi formal wear.

Often likened to the "dress down policy" that was introduced a few years back, wearing comfortable dresses had allowed a lot of men and women to feel very much comfortable in what they wear. This is regardless of the occasion and the theme of the event. A lot of dress boutiques have slowly incorporated the designs of dresses in their own products. Women love the freedom brought about by these dresses, as it allows them to choose just about any length of dress or pair any skirt with an acceptable top. The material used for such designs are also unlimited, allowing women to enjoy using the likes of denim and cotton when selecting their dresses.

While there are also semi formal attires made with high quality fabric such as silk and chiffon, women who prefer simpler wardrobes can simply select the more common types of fabric. Another advantage of wearing a semi formal dress is the versatility of the dress. Aside from being able to wear it anywhere and at any time, this is perfect for those events when you are not exactly sure what to wear. Instead of deciding whether to wear something formal or something casual, the idea of these dresses allows you to fuse formality and casualness in a stunning design. You won't have to feel overdressed for the occasion, and at the same time not worry about being underdressed.

If you are interested to purchase these dresses, the internet also provides a huge selection of semi formal dresses for women. You do not need to go into a physical store to purchase a dress. You can simply go online and wait for your chosen design to be delivered to you directly. Payments can be made through the internet for online shops that cater to women's semi formal dresses. Pair these with the right accessories and shoes, and you are set to attract a lot of eyes wherever you go.

Pink Underwear

Pink has always been the color of all things sweet and nice. Pink is actually a lighter shade of the color red. Red as is popularly known, the color of passion and passion is generally linked with violent, animalistic attitudes. When the color is toned down to pink, it emerges as the softer side of passion and becomes an expression of love and romance. Thus, the color is supposed to evoke feelings of tenderness and gentle behavior, both of which are quite essential to the art of lovemaking.

Pink has a deep association to the female sex and very often anything colored in pink is automatically pronounced feminine. The tradition has gone so far as to make women who have no pink in their wardrobes stand out as prude and tomboyish. Pink has thus been changed in to a form of sexual discrimination. However, this thought should not stop anyone, regardless of sex, from wearing pink underwear since pink after all is just a color. Nonetheless, most types of pink underwear are designed to fit women exclusively. Pink panties for women come in every possible underwear style from bikinis to thongs to g-strings. Women also have access to a large variety of pink shades from pale to burgundy as well many patterns. Pink underwear is available in leather, silk, cotton and even rubber. Very often, the fabric will incorporate pink as a theme and center the design of the undergarment on the color. Theme such as flowers, teddy bears and candy can be printed on the on the fabric and these look the best in pink.

Pink is a favorite underwear color among children and even plain pink panties are a large hit in this age group. For children, fun designs such as dolls, pumpkins and cartoon characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Goldilocks are used to dress up the patterns. Designs are usually absent from pink underwear meant for men. For males, pinks restrict themselves to generally briefs and boxers, that too only in pale shades.

Stockings Underwear

With the arrival of the pantyhose in 1968 a means of wearing stockings as underwear first became possible. Prior to this the stockings were always held up by suspenders either from a corset, a girdle or a suspender belt.

I think this was also the time that a new fabric was invented which was stretchy enough to allow for the sewing of the cotton gusset into the stockings crutch. This was essential for women because the nylon against bare skin irritates and causes infections. Even today, a woman should never buy or wear stockings that don't have a cotton gusset sewn in. Even if a woman wears panties underneath her pantyhose, she should still always only wear stockings that have the cotton gusset sewn in.

This is because the nylon is not a natural fabric. It is a derivative of petroleum and one of its downfall properties is that it doesn't 'breathe'. What this means is that the air is unable to circulate freely causing heat to build up. Because it is basically a moist environment that it is blocking the air from circulating around, this invites infections like Candida to thrive. Candida is a yeast infection that is naturally occurring in every human body, male and female.

The freedom offered by pantyhose underwear to women everywhere was phenomenal. It was the late 60's and the revolution was well and truly underway so it was a really good time for the release of a new stocking that gave women freedom yet preserved enough of the 'well-dressed-socially-acceptable' expectations of the day to continue.

Important Features of Men's Underwear

Men's underwear has 3 types of waistband.

- Encased elastic waistband
- The sewn inside elastic waistband
- The sewn on elastic waistband

Encased elastic waistband is mostly found in boxers. Elastic is threaded through the casing and causes the boxer fabric to gather. This would be best for men who are allergic to latex. But major disadvantage is it leaves vertical red imprints on the body.

In sewn inside elastic waistband, elastic is exposed to the body. It does not leave red imprint marks on the body.

The sewn on elastic waistband is mostly found in briefs. It is very comfortable for the body and leaves very less red marks on the body. Several manufacturers are making their elastic waistbands with microfiber or having the inside brushed.

The fly:

Only 20% men prefer fly. Majority of men simply go up and over. That's why fly is mostly preferred as a decoration item than a functional feature. Whether men use it or not, fly will always be a stock feature on men's boxers. Boxer briefs and trunks will have a brief style fly treatment.

Lot of design changes have occurred between a man's legs. For increased comfort and improved fit, there is less of traditional intersecting of back, front and leg seams in the crotch area. Instead gussets and panels are becoming popular, and are very comfortable.

Gusset is generally available in diamond, rectangle or triangle shape, inserted in a garment to allow for more space and greater easy of movement. Gusset appears around the inseams. This allows the garment to have fewer seams. The underwear is thus form-fitting and comfortable. Inseams are becoming shorter. If inseams are very long, legs tend to creek up and so it needs frequent adjusting throughout the day.

Back Seam:

Back seam is a very important issue for most of the men. This seam will create a wedgy feeling. Most men don't like sitting on top of a back seam throughout the day. Most of the designer underwear don't have back seam. Instead, they have a gusset design to shape the garment.

Leg openings:

Men want freedom of movement without feeling that their stride is limited, or that their underwear legs need to be constantly adjusted. For woven boxers, look for boxers with plackets or slits on the side. These slits are usually 11/2 to 2 inches tall.

Jock cups:

The size of the cup gets larger as you go up in waistband size. There is no correlation between a man's waist size and the size of the package.

Men's underwear should fit the body without binding or bagging, regardless of a man's size. Underwear that binds is uncomfortable. Don't buy underwear too big assuming it will shrink. Underwear today is cut to fit and will not shrink wash after wash.

Most of the men prefer cotton fabric. Highest quality cottons are pima cotton, supima cotton and Egyptian cotton. Microfiber is another very soft fabric for men's underwear.

Fall Fashion Accessories For Women

Fall fashion accessories for women don't have to be boring or bland anymore. You can brighten almost any outfit with a few simple accessorizing options. Just remember your goal is to accentuate your natural features and add a bit of flair to your current wardrobe.

If you've seen fall fashion designs that look tacky or overdone, then the problem could be poor accessory choices. It doesn't take an abundance of belts, purses, or pieces of jewelry to make an outfit stand out in a crowd. A few accessories that are well chosen and elegant in taste can make a much bigger and more powerful statement. So, check out these few tips to help with your fall fashion style.

Hats Create a Completed Look

If you've got a hairstyle that can accommodate a stylish hat, which most hairstyles do, then use one to complete your look. Popular fall hats should be subtle and simple in their design because a hat makes a bold statement. Look for hats that are medium in size and have a small bill and a bit of height at the crown. For a polished look, choose hats that do not cover your ears. Outdoor hats that cover your ears are quite appropriate, but indoor hats that accessorize an outfit should leave your ears available for showing off a nice pair of fashionable earrings. In addition, stick with hats that have a neutral color such as: black, brown, or tan. If you accessorize with a brightly colored hat, the look will be too strong and will detract from the natural beauty of your face.

Belts Create a Defined Look

Belts can do a wonderful thing for almost any waistline...they define and tone the midsection. Whether you are curvy, slim, or somewhere in between, belts have a way of showing off the natural shape of a woman. The most narrow part on a woman's body is typically just below her bust line, so the best way to wear a fall belt is to situate it a couple of inches below that area. As a result, the thinnest part of your body will get the bulk of the attention. For the most attractive fall belt accessory, chose one that is about one to two inches wide with a medium sized belt buckle. In addition, try to wear a belt that does not contrast in color or style with your top. Wider black or brown belts are often a great option because so many fall outfits revolve around these two colors. Avoid brightly colored belts that can often hinder the overall appeal of your outfit.

Purses Create a Customized Look

I like to think of purses as the "wheels" of an outfit. If a car can be defined by its wheel design, then an outfit can be defined by its purse design. A fall purse used as an accessory can add some needed bling and artistry to a simple outfit. Since a handbag is not attached to your body in any way, you can experiment with color, texture, and size. Larger purses have been the modern trend, and these seem to revitalize a flavorless wardrobe. Simple patterns, jewel tone colors, and silver hardware all make for an exciting and vibrant addition to most fall outfits.

Fashion Accessories, Facts And Forecasts

Another Christmas comes and goes, all the painful preparations gone in a flurry of excitement. And next year much the same again. The good news it gets easier more enjoyable and more economical, but only if you take advantage of the convenient services on offer online. No longer is it perceived a dumping ground (bargain Basement) for overstocked and end of season fashion accessories, or counterfeits. There are dedicated commercially minded independents featuring some top brad names like Vivienne Westwood and Timothy Everest of Savile Row and more.

For small independent onliners like us, it's time to reflect. What sold well and what did not. What are our customers demanding?

Well, the big surprise was and still is Victoria Richards, a fashion designer best known for her handmade silk neckties, often worn by Channel 4 Anchor Man Jon Snow. She struck the right combination of colour, pattern and most importantly texture, giving depth and added interest. And in spite of her little known brand, outsold most styles, the most popular being the "Devon Bar" a combination of broad slightly irregular horizontal lines in varying shades of blues. They're slightly reminiscent of the original school ties, Remember. Here is an anecdote to prompt your memory. In 1880, the rowing club at Oxford University's Exeter College, invented the first school ties. After an emotional win over their rivals, they celebrated by removing their ribbon hat bands from their boater hats and tying them, four-in-hand around their necks. When they ordered a set of ties, with the colours from their hatbands, they had accidentally created the modern school tie. Schools, clubs, and athletic ties appeared in abundance. Some schools had different ties for various grades, levels of achievement, and for graduates.

Then came Vivienne Westwood and her 2008 cufflink collection. Westwood lovers were willing to pre order knowing their arrival would not be until February 2008. There is value in the product and the name here. And she remains true to good form and function in all her good work.

Here is a very brief look into her past. Vivienne Isabel Swire was born in Glossopdale, Derbyshire, on 8 April 1941. Her mother had been a weaver in the local cotton mills and her father came from a family of shoemakers. Her parents ran a sub post office in Tintwistle before moving to north-west London in the 1950's.

In 1965 she met Malcolm McLaren together they went on to become one of the most creative partnerships in history and as they say the rest is history.

Vivienne Westwood accepted a DBE in the 2006 New Year's Honours List "for services to fashion", She has won the award for British Designer of the Year three times. In December 2003, she and the Wedgwood pottery company launched a series of tea sets featuring her designs, testimony to her versatility and maturity and the respect she has garnered, a far cry from Punk. Endurance in such a volatile industry for a prolonged time is a hallmark by any measure.

London Badge and Button cufflinks were another big surprise. Based in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter, The London Badge & Button Company has over 30 years experience in the design and development of fine cufflinks, buttons and men's accessories and are the manufacturers behind many of the UK's leading stores and fashion house collections.

Louisa Taylor and Pei-Nap Mok is the award winning design team behind the current LBB London cufflink collection. As a team they have given life to a new breed of cufflinks

Traditionally recognised for its strong & distinctive enamel and silver cufflinks, LBB's current collection has expanded to use silver & unusual materials for both its classic & contemporary cufflinks with matching accessories.

Ian Flaherty's handmade Swarovski Crystal cufflinks have always been a good steady seller, his out of ordinary designs blended with classic styling deliver in accordance with demand. His Cube Multi has been a best seller for two years in a row.

All available online for your pleasure and convenience.

The Romantic Fashion Personality

A perfect example of the romantic dresser is the prim and proper character of "Charlotte" from "Sex and the City" fame played by Kristin Davis. Charlotte, like the romantic dresser, is very feminine. She likes comfort and pampering and usually projects herself as being fragile and in need of a knight in shining armour.

Frills and ruffles
Skirts and dresses make up the bulk of her wardrobe and you will also find lots of frills, bows and lace trims detailing on most of her fashion accessories. She is partial to soft, light to medium weight fabrics such as silk, crepe, angora and jersey. She likes gored skirts, pleated skirts, dresses cut on the bias and embroidery is also a big fashion trend with her.

The romantic dresser sticks to the pastel colours and loves paisley prints, florals, gingham and polka dots. Deep cut blouses or dresses with plunging necklines such as a sweetheart neckline or V neckline appeal to her. She loves girly, whimsical detailing such as tiered frill skirts, patchwork and overlays of lace, bouncy tiers and upstanding frills. She would therefore love English Fashion Designer Luella's spring 2009 ready to wear collection which was very fun and feminine indeed.

Floral Jewelry
Her jewelry and other fashion accessories like her handbags are just as dainty, delicate and curvaceous as her clothing. Her jewelry is delicate and pretty to the eye. She adores delicately made handmade jewelry like orchid necklaces or hibiscus necklaces handmade from leather and hand painted in pinks and purples.

The floral theme transcends her entire wardrobe and may include floral brooches, handmade corsage brooches and floral adornments for her hair. Her handbags are small and feminine and would include floral print bags, bags with frills and ruffles, tartan patterned bags and bags with gingham binding. Her scarves are knitted felted luxury wool scarves finished by hand with ruffled edges.

If you are still having problems envisaging who wears romantic fashion then think of "Elle" played by Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde.

Ethical Clothing at London Fashion Week

Wherever and whenever people talk about creative exuberance, they don't forget to mention London fashion week, as the city has always been gunning for some growing up labels, this time the focus is on ethical clothing. The organisers of that show have always preferred to open their events usually with hot zealous catwalks, but this time they decided to do something different and the show was started with Estethica's launch in which ethical clothing from the designer fashion was showcased.

The idea behind the ethical clothing seems to gain more and more ground with every passing day, and even it has succeeded to win government backing right now. Defra also introduced its Scap or Sustainable clothing Action Plan in that event.

This plan will outline commitments of some leading retail and manufacturing names in the fashion to make fashion more apt to the ecological requirement in its different cycles from manufacturing to designing. Some leading retailers and manufacturers are currently involved in the plan, and the same retailers and manufacturers have already aimed to cast a sustainable effect of casual fashion on the environment.

Now under Estethica, it is being planned to bring the ethical designers with similar views closer and play their role in making clothing more ethical than ever before. London fashion week is going to celebrate its 25th birthday during this year when the shadows of worldwide economic slowdown are hovering everywhere and most buyers have tightened their purses for things like luxury and fashion clothing.

However, now many designers around the world are focusing on to manufacture clothing with some inexpensive and environment friendly materials that are obtained by causing least or no damage to the surrounding environment and other living things on the planet.

Esthetica's founder Peter Ingwersen said on the occasion that: "it's a need of time to promote ethical clothing and it can be done only if we make people believe that luxury, fashion, sexiness, corporate, social responsibility, and ethics can work together."

It's true that a considerable number of customers are not willing to pay attention whether some sort of clothing is ethical or not, and the fact is that none made them think about this serious issue, but now things seem to change and the realisation for such sort of clothing is on increase with every passing day. Now some leading retailers and manufacturers are paying attention to this type of clothing and people are also becoming aware of the importance of this type of clothing.

In fact, many customers believe that they might be sacrificed luxury, sexiness or their other desired objects if they prefer ethical clothing to the other popular fashion clothing of today. However, these days, many retailers and designers have realised the importance of being ethical for the sake of their environment and other living beings on the earth and it's becoming quite trendier to come up with this type of clothing in fashion shows and other events.

Lingerie Fashion Shows

Lingerie fashion shows are an excellent way to discover what is available. They display the latest designs of day along with the latest fabrics and colors being used . The shows are exciting with lights, sounds and very attractive models. They may include both men and women modeling the fashions.

Famous stores like Victoria Secret and Fredricks of Hollywood, or just a single designer put them on to advertise what they have to sell to the public. Some clubs like Playboy put on lingerie shows to attract party goers, or magazines like Hustler Magazine use these occasions to just advertise their business.

How ever you feel about such occasions and events, they are a part of todays culture and fashion. These settings bring the spotlight on the world of lingerie. They also provide work for models, and some of the top fashion models of today participate in them while earning top dollars and really big bucks.

So if you are considering the worlds of lingerie, thinking of learning more about them, or just want to see the latest designs, go see one of the lingerie shows.

Lingerie fashion shows are held in the outside world as a big event. Personally, going to these fashion shows gives you an idea as to how lingerie has changed in a big way. I once view a lingerie fashion show while I was on holiday in Canada and I was very amaze as to what I saw.

This was a show where both sexes walk the catwalk in style and the show was well appreciate because it is all about the changes in the new society.

Susette Browne is a Caribbean lady who is also a fitness person. I loves to workout on a weekly basis because looking and feeling good and most of all having a healthy body is all part of my well being. I was once a netball player for one of the most popular clubs in Barbados. Besides being a fitness person I love fashion in all categories but most of all I love to see nice looking lingerie's. When I see sexy lingerie it makes me feel good to see the change that has been made in the society on the whole. Check me out at..
